How Is the Floor Is Lava Made of?

The Floor Is Made Of Lava it is one of the best new shows added to Netflix in 2020. And by best, we mean most ridiculous. The competition show, inspired by an old game played by children in their living rooms, you have groups of three to make your way through the themed obstacles courses entirely surrounded by the treacherous lava — or, you know, a kind of mystery goo. Almost a month after the arrival of Netflix shared a fascinating video that details how the show and its sets of wine together.

To start, a production of the village and of the test space was created from an old Ikea. Then, in the course of six weeks, the various sets were built by a construction team, with each and every proposition of being built from scratch, hand painted, and tested for safety. Certain parts of the course also were created in a pool, in the parking lot, where you trick people with different skills and physical abilities that would give them a shot.

As the lava, the production team got the help of the chemistry laboratory responsible for a large amount of silt that is shown in Alien or The ghostbusters. A team of special effects are also accompanied by various gadgets to make the lava bubble during inopportune times for the contestants. As a result, about 2,000 towels were used a day to clean the edges of the series. Our favorite bite, however, may be the fact that the contestants initially thought they were applying for a show called Devil’s Run. (That probably coming to Netflix in 2021, right?)
