Michelle Obama and Spotify to Launch New Podcast

Michelle Obama is joining the world of podcasting! On Thursday, Spotify announced the launch of Michelle Obama Podcast — the first project to come out of the streaming platform of the association with Obama, Oscar-winning production company, higher Ground. “The episode of the subject will focus on the relationships that shape us, the brothers and close friends to the couple, parents, and mentors to our relationship with ourselves and our health,” Spotify and Top of the Earth said in a joint statement. “The union of the First Lady will be an array of special guests such as Marian and Craig Robinson, Conan O’brien, Valerie Jarrett, Michele Norris and Dr. Sharon Malone MD.”

Obama shared an additional statement about the news, saying: “My hope is that this series can be a place to explore significant topics together and sort through many of the questions we seek to answer in our own lives. Perhaps, more than anything, I hope that this podcast will help listeners open new conversations and difficult conversations with the people who matter most to them. That is how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another.” She also wrote on twitter a teaser video about the project, adding that “it has been a difficult year and I hope that this podcast can help us to explore what is going on and to generate new conversations with our loved ones.”

In January, Obama won his first Grammy award, taking home the award for best spoken word album for the audiobook version of his book of memoirs, Become. Four months later, his Netflix documentary, also titled Becomedetailed in his autobiographical book tour and personal relationships that influenced her along the way.
