Fatal Affaira Netflix thriller that’s heavy on predicability but not so much in the thriller aspect, with the stars Nia Long as Ellie, a woman who is trapped in an almost-romance with his college sweetheart (played by Omar Epps) 20 years later. The movie takes place in the Bay Area in California, and Ellie and her family the house is incredibly beautiful. The film is set in Oceancrest, but we wanted to know if this city really exists, and if the houses there are really this aspect, so I did some research.
It is, Oceancrest is a fictional place. In the beginning of the movie, Ellie and her husband, Marcus (Stephen Bishop), mention sent his daughter to school in Berkeley, CA, before moving to Oceancrest. While Ellie feels that it is so far away from his daughter, Marcus points out that Berkeley is only an hour’s drive away. It is also worth mentioning that just moved to San Francisco, and the house is on the water.
Clearly, the family still lives in the Bay Area if you are in the water and Berkeley is only an hour away. If you are north or south of San Francisco it is not clear, but what is more likely is that you can’t drive to Berkeley in an hour from the ocean south of San Francisco. So the film is likely set in the north of the Bay Area, in a place like Marin or Sausalito. That being said, Fatal Affair it was filmed in Los Angeles. So if you thought Ellie of the house facing the beach seemed to be in Malibu, they were right.
According to Cinemaholic, the filming mainly took place in and around Los Angeleswith scenes that take place in Malibu, and Montrose. Cinemaholic also pointed out that the filming crew were spotted around Los Angeles for several shots in the city, which probably blended right in with everything else filmed in Los Angeles. Fortunately, the California coast is all pretty similar, so the filming in Southern California can pass easily as Northern California. But if you were hoping to hit up Oceancrest at some point in the future, you’re in luck, because it is totally fictional settings.
